Visit at Mooser Schwingungstechnik GmbH - Fascinated by technology even as a child

As a native of Munich, Walter Mooser has always loved going to the Deutsches Museum. As a child, he was particularly taken with the shot-put pendulum, also known as Newton's pendulum. This early encounter gave rise to the idea for the company Mooser Schwingungstechnologie GmbH at Lindberghstraße 3, where First Mayor Norbert Seidl, Economic Affairs Officer Hans Knürr and Economic Development Officer Sonja Weinbuch were warmly welcomed by entrepreneur Walter Mooser and his daughter Anja Mooser for their anniversary visit. The company has now been in existence for 50 years and has been in Puchheim for 30 years.

But how do you get from Newton's pendulum to concrete compaction? Mooser explained: "When you hit the first ball, the metallic clack-clack transmits the impulse. The middle balls transport the energy without moving much, the last ball strikes out. This principle can be applied to concrete construction and allows the formwork facing and the middle balls to act as a membrane." His device, the so-called compressed air formwork vibrator, transmits the vibrations to the liquid concrete in order to free it from the trapped air bubbles, i.e. to compact it without the risk of damaging the formwork. He pointed to the device on the table, barely larger than one of the first models of cordless telephone: "This device has a centrifugal force of 2,500 kg".

Hanging in the office are large photographs of some of the worldwide projects in which Mooser's devices have already been used: Munich subway construction, the Saadiyat Bridge in Abu Dhabi, the Chancellery in Berlin, the airport tunnel in Panama and Munich Airport.

Things are now quieter in the construction industry, said Anja Mooser, who took over the business from her father. She actually wanted to become a doctor, but then decided to study engineering and added an MBA on top. She is now the mother of two children and manages the company with a total of five employees. "She really achieves a lot and does it really well," says her father, who continues to support her, proudly. To relax, he is now also a hobby beekeeper and occasionally still enjoys going to the Deutsches Museum with his grandchildren.
