Cross Headings Tunnel Farchant

In the B2 tunnel Farchant, new cross-headings had to be constructed in order to fulfill the new safety regulations for the escape routes. Therefore a total of four new cross-headings was constructed between the lanes, in order to reduce the distance between the escape routes by half.

During summer 2013 the traffic was conducted through the west tube with only one lane, while the new cross headings were bored from the east side. The tunnel inner shell was formed with a Meva formwork carriage based on H20 wooden girders and equipped with Mooser external vibrators for concrete compaction. The vibrators were screwed onto the STA mounting clamp with H20 adaptors, in order to guarantee a tight mounting of the vibrating units (vibrator + clamp) onto the girder. At the connections between the cross-headings and the main tunnel, wall thicknesses up to 1,00m were best compacted with formwork vibrators. The regular wall thickness of the cross-heading was 40cm.
